Incisional Hernia Surgery in Antalya
An incisional hernia develops at the site of a previous abdominal surgical scar. Op.Dr.Gökhan ATEŞ performs laparoscopic or open incisional hernia repair in eligible patients in Antalya.
What is an incisional hernia?
A hernia of the abdominal wall that occurs through a weakened scar from a previous operation. Wound infection, obesity, chronic cough and diabetes increase the risk.
Symptoms include bulging, pain at the scar and discomfort with straining.
Diagnosis
Mainly clinical; ultrasound or CT may be used to assess size and content.
Surgical options
Small defects may be closed primarily. For most adult cases, mesh reinforcement is the standard.
In suitable patients a laparoscopic approach (IPOM, eTEP) is preferred; large and complex defects may require open repair.
How is the surgery performed?
Performed under general anaesthesia. Duration depends on hernia size and approach.
Hospital stay is usually 1–3 days.
Recovery
Return to office work is typically 2–3 weeks. Heavy lifting is restricted for 6–8 weeks; reassessed at follow-up.
