Femoral Hernia Surgery in Antalya
A femoral hernia is a groin hernia through the femoral canal, more common in women and with a higher risk of incarceration. Op.Dr.Gökhan ATEŞ performs laparoscopic (TEP/TAPP) or open mesh repair in eligible patients in Antalya.
What is a femoral hernia?
A hernia through the femoral canal below the inguinal ligament. Symptoms may resemble an inguinal hernia, but the risk of strangulation is markedly higher.
Symptoms: small bulge below the groin, pain, discomfort with strain.
Diagnosis
Clinical examination, ultrasound and, when needed, CT/MRI. Differentiation from inguinal hernia is important.
Why early surgery is recommended
The femoral canal is narrow and the risk of incarceration is high. Surgical repair is recommended once the diagnosis is established, even with minimal symptoms.
Surgical options
Mesh repair is the standard in adult patients. The laparoscopic approach (TEP / TAPP) is advantageous in bilateral cases or when associated with an inguinal hernia.
Recovery
Most patients are discharged the same day or the day after. Return to office work is usually possible within 5–7 days; heavy lifting is restricted for 4–6 weeks.
Process in Antalya
Op.Dr.Gökhan ATEŞ practices in Muratpaşa, Antalya, and welcomes patients from Konyaaltı, Lara, Kepez and from other regions of Türkiye and abroad.
