Frequently Asked Questions

    Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about consultations with Op.Dr.Gökhan ATEŞ, surgical procedures, appointments and care for international patients.

What conditions and procedures do you cover?

General surgery, including obesity and metabolic surgery (sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass), laparoscopic surgery (gallbladder, hernia), proctology (haemorrhoids, anal fissure, pilonidal sinus), breast surgery and thyroid surgery.

How can I book an appointment?

    The fastest way is via WhatsApp at +90 531 652 43 11.

    Where is the clinic located?

Medical Park Antalya Hospital, Fener Mahallesi Tekelioğlu Caddesi No:7, 07160 Antalya, Türkiye.

    How is post-operative follow-up organised?

A structured follow-up plan is created for each patient. Nutrition and lifestyle guidance, control visits and any required investigations are tailored individually.

    Do you treat international patients?

Yes. Patients from more than 30 countries are seen. Consultations are available in German, English and Russian.

    Is laser haemorrhoid treatment available?

Yes — laser haemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) is offered as one of the available techniques in our clinic.

Am I a candidate for sleeve gastrectomy?

Sleeve gastrectomy is generally considered in patients with BMI 40 and above who could not lose weight with diet. Patients with BMI above 35 plus comorbidities (diabetes, hypertension) can also be evaluated.

Which tests are usually requested before surgery?

Typically full blood count, biochemistry, coagulation tests, ECG and chest X-ray. Patients over 40 or with comorbidities may also need cardiology/anaesthesia review. The final list is decided individually at the pre-operative assessment.

When should I stop smoking before surgery?

The WHO and international ERAS guidelines recommend stopping at least 4 weeks before surgery when possible. Even shorter cessation helps wound healing and lung complications; every day counts.

When can I return to work after laparoscopic surgery?

Office work is usually possible within 1-2 weeks. Jobs requiring heavy lifting need 4-6 weeks. The timing depends on the procedure and individual recovery.

When is mesh used in hernia surgery?

European Hernia Society (EHS) guidelines recommend mesh in most adult inguinal and abdominal wall hernias, as it lowers recurrence risk. Material and placement are chosen based on hernia type and patient factors.

When can I eat normally after a colonoscopy?

Once sedation wears off, start with clear liquids and progress to a light meal the same evening. If polyps were removed your doctor will give you specific advice.
